Leon Battista Alberti And The Transparent Immediacy

To explain the transparent immediacy in the text, they refer to a quote said by Leon Battista Alberti in his text On Painting :

“on the surface on which I am going to paint, I draw a rectangle (…) which I regard as an open window, trough which the subject to be painted is seen.” p. 24.

The window-metaphor explains the transparent immediacy quite well; that the feeling of looking through a window make one somehow get the feeling of looking into a world that becomes in a way real. That is the virtual reality.. -an illusion of a world.
